Welcome to the World Wide Web home of the Pumpkin Patch Mess. We are a group of like-minded living historians who reside in the Midwest. We portray soldiers of the American Civil War, while on campaign and in garrison. We have no fixed unit designation; we prefer, rather, to portray generic soldiers from both sides of the conflict, unless a specific scenario makes it necessary to do otherwise. Our primary focus, however, is the portrayal of western Federal volunteers. We are a progressive mess and pride ourselves in striving for authenticity in both our equipment and first-person impressions. The Pumpkin Patch Mess is one of the founding member messes of a loose knit organization in the Midwestern states known as G. H. Thomas' Invincibles. The Invincibles bring together authentic messes to form accurate company sized groups at regional and national events. More information on G. H. Thomas' Invincibles can be found at their website. We welcome any comments or questions. If you are interested in living history, have a question about the site, or the war in general, please submit them using our feedback page.
